The Working People’s Law (WPL) Center is deeply invested in the fundamental principle that working people are entitled to dignity and security in order to thrive in the workplace and in society. The physical, mental and emotional labor of working people is the anchor of our economy and must be valued and protected against exploitation and abuse. We understand that this principle can only be achieved by working people building power together and demanding dignity and security through organizing and collective action. Dedicated to labor values, we are committed to supporting workers and providing exceptional legal representation that is honest, healing and hopeful.

We are acutely aware that the legal system is driven by capitalism and intentionally designed to favor employers over workers and profit over people, but this reality does not deter us as labor lawyers. It emboldens us to think creatively and act boldly when confronting the root causes of injustice. Unlike other law firms who rely solely on the legal system to seek justice, we recognize that the law is only just “one tool in the master’s shed.” We offer multiple and complementary legal, political, and organizing strategies that center the interests of our clients as impacted workers while challenging the laws, policies and systems that oppress working people. We are motivated by the wisdom and strength of our clients and stand in steadfast solidarity with them as working people in the labor movement.
